Dr. Crystal Wiggins Newman is a licensed clinical psychologist at INBAL and clinical supervisor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Newman grew up in New Jersey, earning her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (child clinical track, with a minor in developmental psychology) from Pennsylvania State University in 2005. Dr. Newman completed her APAinternship at St. John’s Child and Family Development Center in Santa Monica, California.After graduating, Dr. Newman was a consultant for Zero to Three National Center for Infants, Toddlers, & Families in Washington, DC; lecturer in abnormal psychology at Texas A&M University; and Postdoc, Interim Director of Community Programs, and Assistant Director of the Psychological Services Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Most recently, she worked as a Clinical Psychologist at Carle Foundation Hospital for 10 years (2011-2021), specializing in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and women/mothers. She also served as Assistant Director of the APA internship program at Carle, where she trained and supervised practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, and clinical postdocs.
