Ann Briggs Addo
Ann Briggs Addo is a consultant with over 30 years of progressive management and leadership experience in both the private and public sectors. Ann provides leadership advising and development, executive coaching, risk assessment, and expert analysis of complex issues within public and private sector organizations, specializing in institutions of higher education and those organizations serving a public mission. Ms. Addo retired from the University of California where she served in management and
leadership roles for over 25 years. Serving most recently as a member of the UC San Diego Executive Vice Chancellor/Provost’s cabinet, Ann served as Assistant Vice Chancellor & Chief of Staff, a strategist and principal advisor with authority to represent the EVC to the campus and beyond on the plethora of student, academic and other issues in the EVC’s portfolio, all of which had institution-wide impact. Ann first joined the University of California in 1992 and served at the San Diego campus in various roles in the Resource Management & Planning and Academic Affairs divisions and as Associate Chancellor. Ann has also served as Assistant Vice Chancellor & Chief of Staff for Health Affairs at the UC Irvine campus before returning to San Diego where she finished her UC career. In all these roles Ann provided strategic counsel, leading on campus issues and programs that included long range capital planning, budgetary planning and management strategy, diversity and inclusion, institutional conflicts of interest, health affairs operations, crisis communications and organizational
development. Before coming to the University Ann worked with the economic development division of the United Nations (Latin America and the Caribbean) and as a restaurant manager. Over her career Ann has gained the reputation as a leader of high integrity: principled, candid, a problem solver, and a diversity champion—consistently committed to the leadership development and empowerment of colleagues at all levels. Ann holds an MBA from San Diego State University and received a B.S. in business administration from Indiana University. She is a past honoree of San Diego’s YWCA Tribute to Women & Industry Awards (TWIN) awards and is a graduate of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce LEAD San Diego program. Ann has served on several community boards of organizations dedicated to promoting literacy, creativity, and communication skills for middle and high school students, providing low interest business loans to some of the world’s poorest women, and mentoring or sponsoring young people to become leaders.
